Vista's Fifth Annual Joint Rolling Competition in Isla

Yesterday there was Vista's fifth annual Joint Rolling Competition in Isla, organized at Anisq' Oyo' Park where several competitors participated in it.

Isla Vista inhabitants overcrowded the Anisq' Oyo' Park yesterday for the fifth annual Joint Rolling Competition and daylong festival in celebration of all things green and adhesive.

The National Organization for the Reform of Marijuana Laws gave a party, capped off a weekend of reveling throughout I.V. and registered multiple hundred students, salesmen and marijuana worshippers blowing off steam in the sunshine to entertain the festival' main event - the public rolling competition. The contestation presupposes some grades - fattest, fastest, free-style swimming and primo categories for both joints and blunts, and a joint-only contest contestation for medical marijuana and one-handed specialists. According to Alexander Stemplewski, who participated in each category of the competition and beard the palm for most joints rolled within two minutes, the event gave preferential treatment to a sense of community.

"I think it's an awesome competition," Stemplewski, a second-year financial math and statistics major said. "It brings a great group of people together."

Among his achievements there are also the top for the fattest blunt competition and second place in the fattest joint contest. The most popularity took the freestyle joint rolling competition, as I.V.'s majority conceptional rollers advanced to head crafting cross joints and muffled joints. Eventually George Pelic was nominated as the winner for his creature, the "Torpedo-Tulip."

"I used to work in a cannabis club in L.A. rolling joints," Pelic, a business administration major said. "I learned how to roll in Europe. I was the apprentice of a well-known joint roller there."

In fact, according to Ruth Nichols statements, NORML appointed their personal purposes and wanted changing marijuana laws, therefore that was one of reasons of festival organization.

"As a club, we're into reforming marijuana laws for personal and medical use and industrial hemp use," Nichols said.

The group encounters every Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. in 1930 Buchanan Hall if there are those who interested in getting involved in NORML activity.
